Carri Bruss Benzow
Carri is a strong advocate for a person’s right to self-determination. She has over a decade of professional experience working primarily in community based organizations that fostered and supported her passion. She had the unique opportunity of being a part of the pilot project that launched community employment in the State of Wisconsin, working on policy issues, promoting a strong community integration philosophy, and calling on local employers to hire and support persons with disabilities. In addition, Carri mobilized a local chapter of PEOPLE FIRST, an international advocacy organization for persons with disabilities, and served as advisor. A life-long gardener with a special interest in native plants, she also enjoys watching films, reading, and taking care of the horses, dogs, and a colony of formerly stray cats that share her life.
