Experiences that prepared me for this position:
My ten years of experience at LSS as a case manager in refugee resettlement have prepared me well for the IRIS consultant role. I’ve worked with vulnerable populations, helping them navigate complex systems to access housing, healthcare, employment, and legal support. This experience has developed my skills in conducting needs assessments, connecting clients to resources, and advocating for them in a variety of settings. Additionally, I have experience managing complex medical cases, understanding the need for specialized care, and coordinating with healthcare providers. I also bring strong cultural competency, having worked with refugees from diverse backgrounds, and I understand the importance of respecting clients’ preferences and values in care planning. I am skilled in problem-solving and crisis management, which will be invaluable in supporting individual whose care needs may change over time. Lastly, I’m passionate about empowering clients to make informed decisions, which is central to the self-directed care model of the IRIS program. I’m confident that my experience in case management, resource coordination, and advocacy will allow me to support seniors in navigating their long-term care options and help them maintain their independence and well-being
